In the end, I didn’t make nearly as much of a dent in my bookshelf as I would’ve liked. But! I did end up reading more than a dozen books last year, which is more than I managed the previous year. I count that a victory! Perhaps this year I will aim to double that number, at least?

I did keep pretty well to my goal of not buying random things, or trying to start new hobbies, except for watercolors, which I got in Nov following a requested watercolor painting class for my birthday. Overall, still pretty good!

I’m going to continue with another depth year, same parameters as last year:
-no new hobbies
-no unnecessary purchases
-no new books (gifts are fine; exceptions permitted for religion and herbalism)

Here’s to a new year!

Spent Thursday night through Sunday catsitting at @heavenscalyx’s place, while they and wife Akycha netted to Vancouver and back so Akycha could accept the Society for North American Anthology book prize, which is a Big Deal. Friday thus was WFH, in which I caught up on needful tasks that had been languishing because they required uninterrupted focus to really make any progress.

Saturday was up at 6am to take first shift priesting the Wesir Mysteries Vigil, which ran for 24hrs. I worked a total of 10 hours, split into six and four with a five-hour break midday for cooking and cat litter and starting the primer in the bathroom. Alas I couldn’t find the gallon of primer, so instead blew through the remaining little can and got all the obnoxious space behind the toilet done. I also finally managed to do the first watercolor exercise in the online course Rowan got me for my birthday.

@heavenscalyx and Akycha got in late Saturday night, A feeling under the weather and waking up with a full-blown cold. Heaven and I fetch more primer and groceries, then made homemade Mac and cheese for A (her request), salmon and asparagus for me and Heaven, and the sensual herbal hot cocoa for dessert. That means all but one of my herbal hot cocoa recipes have been tested in advance of the class I’m teaching this coming Saturday (11/30); the final ingredient I need to test the last one will arrive Friday. Then I drove back lateish and flopped into bed.

I’ve concluded that I probably concussed myself last weekend and will go double-check with urgent care tomorrow most likely, so that’s fun...

Went to my first session of KMI structural integration (KMI being Kinesis Myofascial Integration) yesterday; today all the areas addressed are confused and sore, not unpleasantly so. Just noticeable. I'm hopeful that I can start addressing some of the roots to my physical problems, rather than just treat or ignore symptoms like I've done historically. I felt very comfortable with Joseph, though I make faces at the possibility of acquiring a bra sans underwire. The logic being that it leaves the spine still mostly visible, unlike a cami-esque top or sports bra or binder, all of which I actually own. Honestly I might rather go topless, but I don't know that this is an option, since not all of the session is under table sheets *sigh*

Among various interesting things learned in the initial assessment--I've apparently been successful at training myself out of 'tucking my tail', but have over-compensated such that now I have an interior pelvic tilt instead of exterior. Oops. Also I've sprained my right ankle more than just the one time I knew about--surprise! But given the ballet background through color guard, not too surprising. That culture was very much "push through it", particularly if the injury/twinge/whatever occurred during a show. I was prone to that default before guard, and am only just training myself out of it in the last few years...

Joseph super curious about solomon's seal, of which I've just run out and need to pick up more. I should get enough of the root to just tincture a huge batch for myself, because goodness knows I work with that herb constantly and feel it when I run out.
